Counselling Psychology

COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGy | WIMBLEDON | LONDON

Counselling Psychology is a speciality within applied psychology professions. Counselling psychology differs from other psychology specialties in that it is rooted in humanistic values and draws upon a range of theoretical models to assess and treat client difficulties. Therefore, I do not feel tied to only one therapeutic approach, but I can also integrate techniques and concepts from different ones to create an approach tailored to the clients’ individual needs.

As a counselling psychologist, I work with people at a deep emotional level and often very intensely, creating a warm, safe and understanding relationship. At the same time, I draw on science and research as a way of understating my clients’ difficulties. In my work, I adopt a holistic approach considering the person in a wider context, thus not only understanding the person’s difficulties in terms of psychological mechanisms and processes, but also looking at their socio-cultural context and their experience in the real world that they live in.

What lies before us and what lies behind us are small matters compared to what lies within us. And when we bring what is within us out into the world, miracles happen.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
