How I work

Chartered COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGIST | WIMBLEDON | LONDON

Making the decision to start therapy is very often a difficult one. In a society that demands so much from us, that is so fast-paced and imposes productivity over everything else, it is difficult to make the decision to take the time to take care of our mental health and wellbeing and invest in ourselves. So first of all, well done for making this life changing step!

Therapy: What to Expect

As a counselling psychologist I am committed to working together at your own pace to help you to develop an understanding of what is bothering you or causing you distress or upset. I practice in a confidential, non-judgmental way, regardless of culture, disability, ethnicity, age, sexuality or gender.

Life can be hard on us sometimes and from time to time we might find ourselves struggling. We might suffer as a consequence of our past experiences, our upbringings, work stress, the weight of expectations on us from the people in our lives or imposed by society. This might make us feel disconnected from everyone, even from ourselves and our loved ones.

Together we will explore what is really going on and what you hope to achieve from therapy. This working together in making sense of what causes difficulties very often results in a reduction in the level of distress and enhancing the capacity to experience life as enjoyable and meaningful as possible. We will be exploring together how the experiences, relationships and events of your past influence and affect your present, and how unhelpful patterns in your relationships may be repeating.

Developing a deeper awareness of our feelings, patterns of behaviour and our way of relating to other people, can help us to understand what can be changed, and can also help us feel more in control of our own emotions, developing a closer and more authentic relationship with ourselves and others. Developing a stronger, healthier relationship with ourselves and becoming aware of our needs and wants is key to our mental and physical wellbeing.

Models of Therapy I Use

I am trained in different therapeutic modalities: CBT, Psychodynamic therapy, and Humanistic therapy. I work in an integrative manner, adapting the work to your specific needs, also considering what might work best for you based on your personality and preferences. I apply research evidence and theory to assess and address the difficulties you bring to therapy.

Over the years I have worked with numerous clients presenting with a wide range of needs, including:

At the end of the assessment session, we will discuss together the type of therapy that might be more appropriate to address your specific goals and needs.

I offer weekly appointment in my clinic in Wimbledon as well as Online Therapy sessions.
