What is Intensive Therapy?

I created this option as I often hear people talking about finding difficult to understand what’s bothering them or not knowing how to deal with a specific issue or figuring out their life direction, but not feeling quite ready to start therapy and commit to weekly sessions. If you find yourself in this position, and you would like develop a deeper understanding of a problem you are experiencing, or you feel stuck in the same unhealthy pattern in your relationships or in your professional career and would like to have more insights into the mechanisms that seem to be leading you to continuously repeat this unhelpful pattern, this 3 hours package is the right option for you!

How does intensive therapy work?

Together, we will explore the specific issue you are experiencing in order to develop an understanding of it, as well as exploring possible directions to overcome the issue. We will meet for 3 hours usually spread over two days.

STEP 1 : ASSESSMENT

Together we will start exploring what is causing you distress by developing a deeper understanding of yourself, your past experiences and your goals.

STEP 2: FORMULATION

Together, we will make sense how the problem might have been developed, and what are the mechanisms that might be contributing to maintain the issue alive. This is a collaborative and insightful process in which I bring my expertise and knowledge, while you bring your subjective experience and feelings. Together we will make sense of your difficulties.

STEP 3: FUTURE DIRECTIONS

Guided by the insights developed in the previous steps, together we identify and explore possible directions and resources that might help you move towards achieving your desired goal.

Benefits of intensive therapy

Intensive therapy, allows you to have precious time set aside just for you, to develop a deeper understanding and explore a particular issue in your life without having to commit to weekly therapy sessions. Although it is not the same of a therapeutic session, as it does not focus on the treatment of the issue but rather to the understanding and exploration of it, intensive therapy offers you an in depth exploration of your problem as well as helping you to think about possible future directions to address what is bothering you.

Possible future directions are often related to engaging in further therapy, discussing possible suitable approaches, or the application of practical coping skills that can be learnt / discussed during the session. However, very often the experience of developing a deeper awareness and understanding of the issue is extremely helpful in itself.
